Family Services of Greater Vancouver Launches Caring Neighbours Campaign this Holiday Season
As the festive season approaches, the spirit of giving is in the air – yet the holidays can be a particularly difficult time for those facing challenges. Whether it’s a family worried about making ends meet, a survivor seeking support, or a youth without a safe place to sleep, many individuals and families are doing their best to get by without the resources they need. That’s why Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) is calling on everyone in the community to show compassion and become a Caring Neighbour.
Running from November 12 to December 31, 2025, the Caring Neighbours campaign aims to raise $250,000 to fund FSGV’s programs in 2026. Support for the campaign will help the organization continue to deliver a wide range of vital services – from supporting youth experiencing homelessness and families in crisis to assisting survivors of violence and others in need. With the community’s generosity, FSGV can help more people not only survive, but thrive as they work toward brighter, more stable futures.
“Our neighbours across Greater Vancouver find the support they’re looking for – and more – at Family Services of Greater Vancouver,” said Maria Howard, CEO of FSGV. “Last year alone, more than 12,000 people were met with dignity and client-led support at FSGV. The work we’re doing with survivors, families, and homeless youth in our community is something you can see, every time you walk out your door. As we look ahead to 2026, we know we need your help to keep building brighter tomorrows.”
By the numbers:
Last year, FSGV supported more than 12,000 people across the Lower Mainland and BC.
Served 40,000+ free meals and snacks to vulnerable youth, and distributed more than 4,300 essential supplies to unhoused and at-risk youth, including clothing, blankets, and backpacks with more of what they need.
On average, FSGV spends four years with each survivor of violence that they work with. Last year, this added up to over 15,000 hours of support for survivors of all ages, including those as young as 3.
Through the Financial Empowerment program, FSGV helped 3,300+ people grow their financial skills; this is a foundation people build on to take control and feel empowered with their money.
This giving season, you can be there for your neighbours. When you donate to FSGV, you’re supporting a local charity and helping members of your community.
